Ecofont: The earth friendly font
———————————————————————————————————————————
Designers are getting even more Earth friendly with Ecofont
The font that uses less ink by having holes, clever. Download here.

Here’s the backstory: Most printer cartridges end up in landfills. The more ink we use, the more garbage we create. So Spranq designed a font that uses 20 percent less ink by simply removing as much of each letter as possible, while still leaving it readable. Basically, the whizzes got rid of the line that connects the dots to create the characters.

Objectified : New Trailer
———————————————————————————————————————————
Objectified, a documentary about industrial design by Gary Hustwit (who did Helvetica), has a new trailer
the voices belong to Jonathan Ive, Andrew Blauvelt, Marc Newson, and Karim Rashid. The song is “I Like Van Halen Because My Sister Says They Are Cool” by our friends El Ten Eleven, from their new record These Promises Are Being Videotaped [get it on iTunes]. And the font used in the trailer is… Akzidenz Grotesk! [Shout out to Paula Scher!]
For those who have not seen it, Helvetica will have its US television debut tomorrow, January 6th, nationwide on PBS as part of the awesome Independent Lens series. It’s a shortened version of the film (54 minutes versus the original 80) but with all the juicy bits still intact. You can prepare yourself by playing the What Font Are You? game!

Pacific’s remake of “Don’t You (Forget about me)”
Pacific! has a mix of the classic Breakfast Club theme, “Don’t You (Forget about me)”
I just found this, but it was released in July of 2008. Remember those JC Penney commercials where they remade scenes of The Breakfast Club? I only remember them cause they repeated it over and over and over in this theater concession stand while I was waiting to buy my popcorn. Apparently JC Penney is kinda cool enough to know about Pacific and made an EP of covers of that one song by 5 other bands, including the real one by Simple Minds as the first track. So “don’t you forget”… about this song.. ever. Click here to see more about Pacific
